Matt Cardle has been crowned winner of The X Factor, beating Rebecca Ferguson into second place. Matt Cardle’s XFactor single “When We Collide” is now available to pre-order, and will be hitting the stores first thing Wednesday morning (15th December) after his win on Xfactor 2010. Matt Cardle saw off favourites One Direction, who went out as thrid place finalists, and was pitted in the final against Rebecca Ferguson singing the Duffy hit Distant Dreamer.
In control and conveying the emotion of the lyrics, Rebecca’s performance was met with rapturous applause and a standing ovation from the judges. Teen fivesome One Direction were eliminated during Sunday night’s show, finishing in third place. Mentor Simon Cowell said he was “gutted” for them.
Cardle will release his debut single, which is likely to be a strong contender for the Christmas number one despite another campaign against XFactor named Cage Against The Machine. Cage Against The Machine is a campaign to get John Cage’s “silent” masterpiece, 4’33″, to Christmas #1 for 2010. At the time of writing, over 80,000 people have joined the Facebook Group vowing that together “we can make it a silent night on Radio 1″.
All ad money and other income generated from the Cage Against The Machine campaign, will go to C.A.L.M. – a chairty providing a service for young people who need help or advice, created in response to the high suicide rate amongst men aged 15-35.
