Peppa Pig Stocks Low

Christmas Toys Expected To Run Out

Parents are being advised to buy Christmas presents early this year after Character Group said it would be adopting a more conservative approach than usual to stock control.

Peppa PigCharacter Group, the distributors of toys based on TV shows such as Fireman Sam, Postman Pat and Peppa Pig, decided it was better to be prudent in the face of the current economic difficulties than be left with sacks of unsold toys at its warehouses after the festive period.

Character Group Chairman, Richard King, said: “We don’t know how Christmas is going to fare. We don’t know want to get caught with excess stock, so let’s be conservative about numbers.”

Asked whether this would mean that this year’s favourite toys would sell out, King said: “There always is that risk. Every Christmas it is impossible to buy enough to support the bestsellers in the market. When you get it right it is fantastic but if you get it wrong it can take you out of business.”

There’s no doubts that this cautious approach would restrict sales by retailers such as Argos and Tesco in the weeks running up to Christmas.
