Many moons ago, three wise men, with others in tow, traipsed across desert carrying gold, frankincense and myrrh. In the year 2011, wise men (and women) bear gifts of iPads, TiVo boxes and Kindles. Make no mistake and take note… nobody has socks, boxers or bars of lavendar soap on their Christmas wishlist!

The list, compiled by Meltwater Buzz, was produced whilst monitoring social media to see which gadgets were most talked about in the run up to Christmas. The top gadgets that people actually want are all about play, socialising and reading and it’s little surprise that the top spot goes to the most popular of tablets, the iPad2. Bringing up the rear is any gamer’s choice of phone, the Playstation phone.

Meltwater Buzz analysed online conversations taking place across all social media sites including Facebook and Twitter, looking specifically for mentions of gadgets and Christmas. The social media monitoring platform found the iPad2 as the clear winner of the Christmas gadget wishlist after it generated over 400,000 mentions in 14 days.
