10 Christmas Credit Crunch Tips
11 November 2009
Christmas is coming fast, and most of us are already feeling the pinch; even more so with the dreaded credit crunch breathing down our necks and constantly looming over us. Here are 10 handy and helpful tips to help you survive this Credit Crunch Christmas.
- Set a limit on spending! Persevere, be disciplined and above all, keep within your budget!
- Make your own presents. It’s a fantastic way to save money and give something personal to your loved ones.
- Choose useful presents. Take a sidestep from the high street and check charity shops for some of your presents; cheap gifts and a haven for fabulous bargains (if you know where to look).
- Plan the dinner in advance; growing your own vegetables and stick them in the freezer, or even raise your own turkey.
- Make your own decorations. Why not get the kids cutting up old magazines to make paper chains to decorate the room?
- Use vouchers! Whether they are online vouchers or ones cut out from the paper, vouchers can be a godsend at this time of year.
- Make your own decorations for the tree. Cheap, personal, and a great bonding experience for the family.
- Get everyone in the family to pitch in by bringing something to the dinner, for example booze and puddings.
- Instead of sending Christmas cards, why not send out Christmas emails to the family members or, again, make your own for that personalised feel.
- Wrap your presents with decorated brown paper.
